About Me
—
In 2015, I retired as a sergeant after 27 years in law enforcement. Due to several unforeseen injuries, I had to retire a couple of years earlier than I had planned to. Dealing with these injuries I was pretty much stuck at home and very down.
2018 was a life changing year for me. I found an amazing doctor who made my quality of life much better than the previous three years. I was finally able to start living my life by doing more things (things most people take for granted) and traveling a little bit.
One of my hobbies throughout my career was photography. Although this was just a hobby, I realized that not only did I love taking photos, but I was pretty good at it. Due to my injury, I had to stick with doing portraits, close to home, and not much else.
There was still something missing from my love of photography.
Photography to me, is about going out and finding adventure. It’s about hiking through a rain storm or a blizzard to find the perfect shot. It’s about meeting new people and going new places. It’s about sharing your love of taking photos with the love of your life or with people you’ve never met. It’s about traveling hundreds of miles to take a picture of a sunset or a waterfall or a mountain or whatever you see along the way. To push yourself out of your comfort zone. To live life everyday and never ever take it for granted. That’s what photography is to me.
I still do portraits, but I now spend most of my time thinking about where my next adventure will take me and make sure it takes me there.
